Shanghai Part One

My family and i went to Shanghai and the areas around on the 1st till 8th of December 2009. We didn’t want to go at first because of the h1n1 attacks that were getting more fierce especially in this winter times and also because mum’s shop was about to have its first grand opening. For me, i disliked the intense cold that i would face there as i heard some people said its already snowing in Shanghai at that time. I was usually not like that, i love the cold! Especially the snow. Well, in the end, we went anyway because refunding was impossible. And i’m glad it was. =)

Day One

We took the airport taxi at 5.30am. It was a sweet feeling, sitting in that taxi, knowing i would fly in hours time.

Later we found out that the flight was delayed due to bad weather in Shanghai. So our flight departed at around 11am.

When we reached after a 5 and a half hours flight, everyone in the group trip was awkward towards each other.

We were transferred by our tour bus to Hangzhou.

So we had our first dinner in a pretty classy restaurant. We couldn’t go to the other places planned for today as we were late.

Then, we went to visit the West Lake Xin Tian Di which is located in the Southern Line of New West which also houses world famous bars, clubs, restaurants, shops and entertainment places. Its the best and luxurious place for couples to go dating. You can see couples hugging and kissing around this place, though, i just saw one that night.

Then we were off to a great hotel. I love the hotel design.

Day Two

We went to Meijiawu, the Dragon Well Tea plantation which produced the most famous green tea in China. I was convinced by the salesman to buy and commit myself to drink green tea as my water for the rest of my life.

The place smelt good.

The old traditional way of frying tea leaves. The wok was pretty hot. I doubt they still do it now but machines.

Then, we were on our way to Leifeng Tower where the fairy tale of White snake took place. Along the journey, the view was simply awesome and i loved the different hues of leaves on the trees.

We reached the base of the tower. Breathtaking place.

This design was all over the floor.

They actually built escalator for those who are lazy to climb up!

This is the highest floor. I think they are made of pure gold.

This is called the West Lake which is our next destination next. This piece of land houses grand hotels and some are only reserved for prime ministers.

Then we’re off for lunch.

You can always see this along the road. China people are environment-friendly people. How i wish malaysia weather will allow us to ride bicycle around! It would be so cool.

The chinesey restaurant. They later had face-changing performance while we were eating. It’s pretty funny on how everyone was clapping and cheering for the man who performed, treating him like someone great when he was on stage, but not minding or looking at him at all when the performance finished even when he passed by the tables. Well, maybe the food was too tempting.

After that, we were at the West Lake to take the VIP boat to both old and new Lake.

The boat we sat in.

Part of the old lake.

Part of the new lake. This lake is a bit calmer as less people are allowed to come here. You can see three ducks there. I forgot what it is called. This place is also a good place to take wedding pictures.

Then, we proceed to Hengdian. This town was where many films were shot. It was a bit like Hollywood hence called Eastern Hollywood where they built buildings just for the sake of shooting. It seemed many migrated over to that place so that they’ll have the chance to be picked out to become actors or actresses thus becoming famous!

We went to visit Emperor Qin Palace where more than 100 famous films such as the Emporer and the Assassin, Mummy III, Hero, Da Zai Men, Curse of the Golden Flower, Journey to the Past etc etc! It was truly an awesome place!

The front door. They’re all not historical buildings by the way.

Look any familiar? This is the first part of the walk.

I remembered they usually use this scene to gather war troops.

The poles are called Totem Poles. There are 8 altogther, painted with dragons, which was the symbol of the unification of the world by Emporer Qin Shi Huang.

One of the most famous place for movies. I saw this place in many movies countless times. Its in the place where the Emporer will sit in.

This big drum was also frequently used in movies. I hitted it 6 times. Nice feeling. But cost rm3.

It was already late and my tour group was the last one to leave the place. So we practically had the place for ouselves. Less people, nicer to take pictures!

Familiar place too. Louis Khoo acted here. Haha!

Asked my brother to start hand stand all over the places in this palace. This was one of the picture. Before this, he was having this plan to hand stand in places he visited before and then to compile it into an album when he’s old. =)

Then we went to Jiangnan Water Village for dinner.

The food they served were village food. Very traditional. The ones we usually see being served in poor family in the olden days. But the food was awesome nevertheless. The inner design of the restaurant too suited the kind of dish they served.

I know all of the pictures i took of the dish were always after we’d eaten. It’s actually hard to take the before picture as everyone was so starved to have the patience to wait for me to take a picture of them.

The olden days cinema. This old man could produce the sound of a bird and many other kind of sound. Real talented!

We were off to watch Rainstorm Mountain Torrents Show which offered a chilling view of the disaster. Quite a simple yet nice and real show. Picture below showed the water rushing from above. Nice effects.

I’m not sure whether we are in Yiwu that time but i think so. Couldn’t remember the place we visited.

So second day was till here.
