Shanghai Part Two

DAY THREE

After breakfast, we went to one of the largest commercial cities in the world that is Yiwu International Trade City. Pretty cold inside as the heater was not warm up yet. Mum bought a lot of things for her shop. I bought a weighing scale and got the shock out of my life.

Then we were transferred to Dong Yang for its Woodcarving Museum. Quote the itinerary, the mejestic and solemn architecture is famous for its selected materials and exquisite workmanship such as woodcarving, stone-carving and brick-carving. The Construction woods of the museum from beam to tracery are all masterpiece of woodcarving.

I wonder how they had carved this! So fine and detailed!

Don’t know why i’m attracted to this piece of wood. But i find it pretty meaningful.

It seems that no young generation pursue on this career anymore - to be a woodcarver. Thus, this piece of museum is very precious to China.

LUNCH!

After lunch, we went to Suzhou via the Hangzhou Bay Bridge. This bridge is the longest trans-oceanic bridge in the world. If im not mistaken, it was 36 km long.

And so we arrived.

We were going to this place. Not sure of the name. It felt really great to walk at that place.

This old man sold some delicious stuffs. Don’t know what it was called but it’s something like beef in a wantan.

After that, dinner time in a marvelous restaurant again. By that time, my weight was doubled.

We then went to see the world largest LCD screen (500m in length and 32m in width) which replaced the one in Las Vegas.

After that, we went to Jinji Lake (Golden Chicken Lake) and Ligong Causeway to have a night-view. Then to the Bird Nest, which was the twin brother of the Bird’s Nest in Beijing, which were created by the same designer except this one came first. It was said that this Bird’s Nest was nicer than the one in Beijing.

The colour changes everytime. Magnificent building.

We watched a short show in the Nest that talked about the life in Suzhou. What i remember from the tour guide was that they call pretty lady “Aiyoyo” while ugly lady “Aiyaya”! It seem Suzhou ladies were very pretty, and the language they spoke was the nicest dialect in China.

DAY FOUR

After breakfast, we toured to the Hangshan Temple.

We had the special crab for lunch - Yangcheng Lake Hairy Crab. One for about rm50 if im not mistaken! This crab is strong enough to climb over a tall wall. My makan team table was the last one to savour it. This is the longest time i took to savour half a crab! Usually was 10 mins then done with one crab, but this i took more than 30 mins for just half.

Everyone was concentrating - not allowing any meat left in the crab.

Food left abandoned. Haha! Actually, we were too full after our breakfast.

Then to the Garden of Couple’s Retreat with the title of “Oriental Romantic Place” which faces the moat. We saw the difference between the guest rooms for a man and for a lady. Different. The guys got to use better rooms than the girls.

We cruised at the Grand Canal near the place where in the olden days, the couple who lived here always get to be romantic at the river. The person who towed the boat sang for us. Nice voice they have! It seemed that they were just too old to get famous now.
Our singer of the day.

After that sweet cruise, we were off to the Silk Factory! Suzhou is the best place to buy silk. I bought a silk scarf. Then brother called me to his little adventure. We walked away to enjoy the way the residents’ lives while everyone were buying silks.

After that we went shopping! I think this street is called Guan Qian Street. Everyone especially the women were just lighted up a few degrees in an instance. I couldn’t find any insects to be eaten here though. After the shopping, i concluded, the universal place for couples to date was Mac Donald’s! Even in China, i could see many people were dating, holding hands, feeding each other, chatting in the restaurant.

Then we proceed to Nanjing.

After a few hours ride, we went to visit Ming City Wall which is the well-preserved largest wall not only in China but in the world.

Cant’t really see the wall. It’s just right beside of the England restaurant we dined in.

Off to shopping again at Confucius Street. Huge place to shop, but still no insect!
